Where to mount Sirius plug-and-play control head?
Where to mount Sirius plug-and-play control head?
I am looking for recommendations on where to mount the Sirius plug-and-play control module. I am leaning toward the Kenwood H2A unit but it could be any Sirius plug-and-play control head since I haven't purchased it yet. I don't want to permanently modify the interior of the car.
Anybody have pictures of a successful installation somewhere on the console or dashboard?
Thanks,
Jeff

Take a look at my Cardomain page in my sig. and scroll to the bottom of page 1. There's a picture of my installed unit. It just fits nice and snug in the cubbyhole, and it hasn't popped out or experienced any problems in almost a year.

Interesting.... Is that unit mounted in a cradle so you can take it in the house?
Right now I have a blankout plate over the cubby hole and I have the CD changer control head flush mounted in the plate. I would consider putting it where you did if I can take the unit in and out easily.
What brand is your Sirius unit?

I can't remember what brand it is for sure, but I believe it's Audiovox. It does sit in a cradle, so you can pop it out and take it inside if you have a docking station for the house. There's a very small switch on the side of the docking station that's used to select the frequency for FM modulation. I broke the plastic part of the switxh off when I installed it, but it works perfectly fine and I can change the setting with a small screwdriver. I probably spent a couple of hours trying to find a better way to mount it, but other than putting holes in the dash this was the best solution. i mounted the antenna in the corner of the dash as you can see in the pics, because there wasn't really any place to put it outside the car. If you have any other questions just ask.
