where to fit amps in a convertible
i am trying to figure out the installation for my new system. i got a custom box for the hatch of my convertible for my 2 12s subs, this box takes up all the room in the hatch, can anyone recommend where i fit my 2 amps.
I put mine down in the little well in the middle of the trunk. I have three Alpine V12 Expert amps in there. I took some pieces of aluminum about 3/8" thick, a couple inches wide and the length of the amps. Drilled the aluminum pieces where the mounting holes for the amps were and ran some threaded rod through everything and bolted it all up.
Actualy, I made everything a little longer than the amps and was able to mount a plate in there to mount my fuse and gnd distribution blocks to.

Yeah I have a similar setup in my vert, but I used 1/2" MDF instead, and carpeted it tan to match the factory mat. Just make sure that the amp isn't too tall if you do it this way, I switched amps and tore the tint film off of my rear window when I dropped the top!
I fit two inside the wheelwell of my car, they are pretty big, but fit with no problems. I used some metal straps and bolts to hold them in. They fit behind the spare tire. I figured this was a good place since any criminal trying to steal them will have to pull the tire, plus try and get through the bolts and metal, any smart person will just move to the next car. If you put them in plain view, someone might steal them. My car has been broken into twice, my sisters 4 times, in the last couple of years. My sisters car has nothing in it, just stock stereo and some cloths. People will break in looking for just about anything.
You can easily fit them in the trunk where the convertible top sits. I did that in mine and it works great. There is a picture in my signature. Just get a thin piece of wood and pull up the carpet and stick it underneath witha bit of silicone. Just mount the amps on that and you'll be good to go.
