Where did you route your power cable for amp?
Where did you route your power cable for amp?
ok, my amp is on the fritz. I lost my subs today. They come and go.
The power cable that was int he car when I bought it 4 years ago is still there. Some crappy stiff fkn house wire. I need to replace that rigged azz fuze he put in the rear. it's melted, but still flows. My amp is not in protect mode, just not getting any sound out of it.
works fine at really low volume.
But yeah, where;d you run your power cable? Mine rund thru a hole on the driver's side that is caked w/ RTV. -No idea where it goes after that.

Re: Where did you route your power cable for amp?
If you remove your PCM, you'll find the perfect spot for running a power cable from the battery to your amps. I ran my cable through the grommet behind the PCM into the interior. From there, it goes behind the passenger side kick panel, along the side sill (under the carpet). Then behind the large pass. side trim panel beside the rear seat... and you're pretty much there.
Here's some of it:

be sure to keep your RCA jack wires running on the opposite side of the car from your power wire or else you'll get a lot of engine noise from your system
Re: Where did you route your power cable for amp?
you could potentially get a lot of engine noise but hardly noticable with higher quality rcas running some subs.
i just wanted to chime in and say to the original poster that your setup is a potential fire hazard. never let a fuse "fuse" together like that and i would strongly reccomend power cable designed for use in a vehicle.
ive seen power cables melt and burn on more than one occasion and its not pretty.

Re: Where did you route your power cable for amp?
Use RCA cables that use "twisted pair" construction. Cables that use this type of construction reject radiated noise far better than a simple shielded cables which are useless in a car stereo application. Stinger has a wide selection of these kind of cables for you to chose from.
