Exclamation Whats' wrong with my sub??!

Whenever i turn up the volume to the usual level, I can hear my sub vibrate as if I placed something in front of the cone and let it vibrate against it. What could the problem be? Is my sub permanently f**ked? (10" L7 kicker solo baric dual 4 ohm) (older version) If it is screwed, should I sue Trick Daddy?

Look inside the enclosure and make sure nothing is touching the cone.

Nope. Nothing touching the cone, and no rips. It only vibrates when I turn it up to 18. When its on 16-17 its fine.

Sounds like you may have a partially detached voice coil then. Time for a new one.

or the spider glue around the basket let loose, or partially loose.

Could this be due to playing the sub when its not warmed up enough? In cold weather I wait about 10-20 minutes after the interior is warmed up before I turn the bass up. Should I have waited longer? If one of the voice coils is detached, is it a fairly easy fix?

The cold shouldn't matter. Car audio speakers should already take temperature extremes into account when they are designed and manufactured.

If the VC is detached you'll either have to scrap it or send it to the factory for repair. It's not a fix that can easily be done at home.

I would check the spider first, you may be able to fix that.
