whats wrong?
ok, here is my setup in my thirdgen
2 x MTX 12" 8500 DVQ both wired for a 1 ohm total
subs in a Q-logic box with 1.25 cubic space each, curently have the box ported but can make it sealed, box siting on folded down back seat(only place it will fit in the car) facing towards me
RockfordFosgate t10001bd amp with about 600 watts at 1 ohms going into each sub
Pioneer DEH-P5500MP head unit
and for some reason this setups sucks for me right now. it sounds good in my car with a good amount of bass when it is turned up, but when you are outside the car you can hardly hear it. im not sure if i have the amp tuned right or what but im kinda thinking it was a waste of a $1000+ i got a friend with an ls1 trans am and hes got a single 12 w6v2 and his sounds alot better than mine and i got another friend with the same amp and running about the same system except with different subs and you can hear him comming down the street. i dont know if my amp and head aren't tuned right of maybe i just wasted my money?

Re: whats wrong?
So if I'm understanding you correctly you're upset because your car sounds good when you're in it, but everybody else who is outside your car can't tell how good it sounds? If you're not getting enough bass when it's at lower volumes then try turning up the gains on your amp. If you're not getting enough bass when you're standing outside the car then try getting in the car. Your system should be in your car so that you can enjoy your music, not so everybody else in the world can know how cool you are. That's what a loud-*** exhaust is for!

Re: whats wrong?
well for one the gain is all most all thew way up and if i turn it all the way and subs start to crap out. its not like i want people outside to hear it, its just it should bumb alot more than it should

Re: whats wrong?
In phase means that both subs are moving in and out together in unison. Make sure that the positive of both subs is connected to the positive on the amp. If the connection to one of the subs is reversed you'll get cancelation which results in weak bass performance.

Re: whats wrong?
I've never understood why people give a rats *** how their system sounds from outside their car.
If you're that concerned, smash your hatch glass. You should hear it fine from the outside.
