What's a good amp to run this sub...
I'm thinking of running at least one, if not two, Kicker Solobaric S10L7 2 Ohm 10" 1200 watt subs. I know the amp will depend on whether or not I'll be running one or two, but for now lets just say I'll be running one...which amp would you advise?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I would try to stay away from anything too cheap, like a Bazooka amp.
You might look in to the new infinity refrence amps or a MTX monoblock D-Class amp.
For a deal on Amps, I went to Million Buy and they have some great prices.
I got a Soundstream amp. Soundstream is the shizzle!! Very satisfied.
Also, you might want to get a Capacitor. Probably 2-farad.
Circuit City sells a nice 2 farad with a built in distrobution block for around 120 bucks.

2 farad is a bit much isnt it? I was thinking more along the line of a 1/2 farad or a 1 farad at the most...Im only going to have one amp running two 10" subs...no amp pushing the 6.5" speakers...
Re: What's a good amp to run this sub...
It all depends on how much you want your lights to dim when the bass hits.
Besides.. if your going to throw 2 amps back on your subs.. your going to need a distrobution block.. might as well get a cap with a distrobution block built in.
I had 2 amps on a 1 farad cap and my lights slightly dimmed... 1 sub amp 1 component amp.
If those solobarics are as powerful as I think, your gonna need the juice.
Most would agree that more is better than not enough.

Re: What's a good amp to run this sub...
I would go with a 2/1 guage power wire for the juice.. BTW
Im half way familiar with the amount of power needed to run those subs.. its never enough basically. So power is of the utmost importance. Seriously.

Class D... thats all you need to know. Any reputable company with a class d amp will punch those subs hard.
I got a friend with 3 perfect 12s running my old MTX 6500d, he runs ~1000 rms @ 1.33 ohm and doesnt dim the lights at all. BTW his rear window of his 02 civic has 1" of excursion.

Your going to need at least 2,000 RMS to run 2 Solobarics, so.. I would say that we need to compare apples to apples.... step up the juice... get a CAP and dont do a wimpy install... Do it right the first time.
Do I sound crazy here?
Why do it Half A$$, if your going to take the time to do it at all?
