what a POS the factory cd player is....

Listen to this one:

so its gotten a bit colder here in NY... not particularly freezing though. Anyway I made a nice cd and left it in the player for the past week or so. Last night after work I get in and the CD player is giving me "E20". Im like oh great... I pull the CD out and I see what almost looks like condensation or something around the outside.. The CD will not play at all but was fine that morning...

So Im thinking... hmm that must mean something is either damp or cold inside the CD player... So I turn on the Vents and the heat to full blast for about 2 minutes, pop the CD back in and boom works perfect.

My old Alpine in my old car worked fine in like -20 degree weather... Man the factory deck is a piece!

If the laser cant read the disc it isnt gonna work in any cd player and as for the quality of the Bose cd player its sounds just as good as my Kenwood.
Cold will do it to a disc anytime, it does it in my dvd player if its cold and moisture builds up on the disc it shutters the pic.

I know that but this is much worse... Ive owned MANY CD players and ive never had a problem like this in MUCH colder weather.

alot of it also can depend on the adjustment of the laser, you could have a cd with 1 scratch on it and one cd player may not be able to play it but a different one will just because differance in the laser alignment.

that wouldnt explain the fact that after I turned the heat on through the upper vents for 2 minutes the CD player worked.. The CD that was in there I had been listening to for like 2 weeks in the car...

Hey Keebler Elf, nice to see you on here!

I've got a 2000 Trans Am Head Unit in my car in order to control the 12 Disc Stock changer I installed later. I have absolutely no problems with leaving cd's in either the changer or the head unit, whether they were created with my burner or they were purchased from a store.

BTW, the head unit is a monsoon, the burner is a plextor, and the cd media is mixed, if it makes any kind of a difference.
