what is a good, cheap setup to replace stock bose system?

I have the stock bose 3 system, with the stock sub, or whatever it is, anyways, i'm looking to upgrade to a better setup, but i don't want to spend very much money on it. I'm not much of a stereo guy, but, my passenger speaker went out, and the head unit's not working properly, so i figure i could upgrade to a setup that has 4 speakers(2 front, 2 back) one sub to replace the stock one, and a better head unit.

what do you guys recomend?

cheap way, go to Wal Mart But you can go to your local shop and give them a price range of where you want to be and I'm sure they can build a system for you. If just want something there, that would be a good way to go. Though, if have more taste, then I would start to demo different speakers and see what you like. Try to demo them in the car if possible. The sound room is really not a good place to do it. The biggest factor really is your budget.
