I'd say, probably Audison. Good old Zapco, Phoenix Gold TI and ZX are also amazing. It still surprises me, that amps from '96 in terms of sound quality outruns alot of modern high-dollar models (like JL for example). Never had a chance to fully test Brax/Steg/HElix though.

Have always used kicker. Never had any problems and no complaints. I;m 100% kicker. Pricey but they are the best(one can have his own opinion but that one is mine lol)

JL Slash series - Good stuff, uber reliable. Sold them for years, never had one come back for warranty service.

Boston Acousitcs GT series - Great amps, under rated power specs, awesome features. All around great SQ.

Diamond Audio - Fairly reliable, good price point, tons of power (D7 series).

I have two DLS A3's sitting beside me, waiting to be installed. Let you know how those work out.

I've got a PPI A600 (Precision Power Art Series) amp powering 4 x 10" Kickers in clamshell isobaric configurations. All of that stuff is 10-15 years old, and it still kicks butt.

If you want more SPL then buying a more powerful amp will make a difference, otherwise I highly doubt you will hear any difference in sound quality no matter what amp you buy.

You just _NEED_ to try quality components set (Focal's, Bostons, MB Quart's, Alpine Type-R's, Eclipse, etc...), with JL, Zapco, PPI and other high-end amps. Difference is amazing
Or, if you already have a nice setup, try something low-end

Depends on how far you want to go back!

To date I still use a Soundstream Reference 705 from like 1997. Before that I was a die hard PPI Art Series fan.

But in my opinion the absolute BEST amps ever created were the OLD Rockford Fosgate Punch 45/75/150 series amps. The really old ones..like back 1992-93. If you still have them, RF will still refurbish these amps for a price and I know a guy who still has 2 Punch 45s that still are as impressive as anything out today.

The shop I used to work at just picked up Steg amps.

From what my old co-workers have said, they're truly world class.

I think one guy is running the K series amps with his No 7 Beryllium component set, run active with a DRZ-9255. Should be done being built up in the next month or so. I imagine it will sound ok
