What adaptor do I use to put an aftermarket sub on a Bose system?
What adaptor do I use to put an aftermarket sub on a Bose system?
I tried searching with a few different keywords and didn't find what I was looking for. Specifically I've heard there's an adaptor that plugs in to the factory Bose subwoofer wiring harness and allows you to wire an aftermarket amp and sub into the otherwise stock system. I searched google, Crutchfield, and this forum but didn't have any luck. If it doesn't exist, what do I need to wire my new Stealthbox and amp into my stock Bose stereo?
Thanks!

Re: What adaptor do I use to put an aftermarket sub on a Bose system?
you need a Line Output Convertor (LOC).
this takes the signal from a pair of speakers (preferably the rear) and converts them to low level signal often found in RCAs... this will allow you to hook up any aftermarket amplifier to your factory deck.
or you can get a new amplifier that actually has highlevel inputs on it.
through experience (i install stereos for aliving) i have found that the LOC we sell works far greater than most high level inputs found on amplifiers.

Thanks for the info. I'm aware I need a line output converter, but is there one that plugs right into the factory Bose sub wiring? If not, is it easy to wire a universal one in?

Re: What adaptor do I use to put an aftermarket sub on a Bose system?
there is not one that i am aware of which plugs directly to the bose sub sorry.
it is pretty straight forward to wire them in.. with the bose system i dont believe you can take it from the deck (the wiring is alittle different than normal) but im sure you can find the two wires connecting to the sub just might have to look around a little or maybe even at the rear speakers themselves.. they are very easy to get to.
hardest thing is making sure the wires are not out of phase (making sure positive is positive and negative stays negative).

I have that setup on my Monsoon system and I love it. I wanted to keep the factory HU in the car because I think they look the best. And I can still use my steering wheel controls.
