What 10" speaker for JL stealth box?

Pretty much what the subject says. I'm looking to upgrade the speaker I have in my JL stealth box. It currently has an older JL 10" speaker in it....10W4 I think. Well needless to say the JL 500/1 amp I have for it is too much for it to handle. I can barely turn the gains up before it starts to make that hideous popping noise when the bass hits(mostly rock music). I'm looking to see what you guys would recommend for a speaker that could handle the amp I have and also be good for small enclosures. Thanks!

Well with tax returns just around the corner I'm thinking I'll be willing to throw down 2-300 for a speaker. Maybe more if its worth the extra cash.

E10 K or an Alchemy for a moderate budget or an Eclipse Aluminum if you have a bit more to spend.

There are a lot of better subs that i am just not sure will fit in the enclosure....

I have the Alpine Type S in my car-it sounds real good. I got it for like $90-another member on here who seems to know a lot about car stereo and has an awesome set up (I can't remember his screen name) has the same sub in his stealthbox and recommended it. It won't be able to take all that power, but will sound good. You can see a pic of it in my car here:

I just did a search, and the board member that always recommends the Alpine Type S is LS1 Rulz. Anyways, here's a thread that might help you out (and you might want to PM LS1 Rulz)

Thanks for the replies. Where would be a good place to get that speaker online? Seems like most of the shops around here are really pricey.

Diamond Audio?

I was browsing onlinecarstereo.com and they have some 10" Diamond Audio M6's for about 2 bills. Does anyone have any experience with these speakers? It looks like they handle a bunch of power but not sure if the vantage box I have is too small for the speaker. Any thoughts?

Ebay is always the cheapest place.... just be sure to buy from someone that has atleast 1k positive feebacks......

www.cbrstereo.com and www.ikesound.com are usually pretty cheap too.

HAS ANYONE HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THE INFINITY PERFECT 10 DVC. IT LOOKS LIKE A GOOD MATCH FOR THIS BOX AND CAN HANDLE A LOT OF POWER. CRUTCHFIELD SAYS IT IS THE PERFECT BALNCE OF SQ & SPL

i have not had a chance to see the new VQ series, but the old perfects were OK. Nothing special for the price, IMO there are a lot of subs i would rather have in the $125-175 price range.

definately NOT a Adire Brahma or a Audiomobile MASS, as they will not fit, as I just found out The magnets are way too big....

I bought mine from this website (I got the SWS 1041D because of the dual voice coils--they have it for $80)

I will have a 2ohm DVC 10" Type R for sale pretty quick if you are interested. I have the original box and all the paperwork. It was used for a month or so in a JL Vantage box. It's in PERFECT shape. I would like to get $85 + shipping....

I've heard good things about MMATS Pro Audio Subs . You can order a refurbished one directly from them for $125 at most (Depends on the Series you choose)

120 Warranty and they sound indestructable.

For the price I would give them a try, I'll let you know over the summer as that's what's going in my GSX.

From personal experience I would also reccomend Xtant Subs. The problem is they are a little expensive and hard to find these days, but they are a perfect match for a Stealth Box.
