well i know what box i want help me with the speakers and amp part?

ive been only focusing on what i wanna do under the hood so i dont know too much about this car audio part, but anyway...i was looking on crutchfield and i think im gonna get the q-logic dual 12'' sub box but i dont know what subs and amp(s) to get (please help ) i was thinking either jl audio, kenwood, sony, or kicker subwoofers, and as far as an amp i dont have a clue as to how to choose? i only put down those subs b/c those are some ive heard of but i am totally open to suggestions for subs and amp, etc!

PS- my goal isnt to be the loudest person on the block cause im on a budget, however i would like to have a pretty decent system that will keep banging over time, ya know?

Well what is your budget? Are you after SPL, SQL, or SQ. How many cubic feet of airspace does the box have for each 12 inch woofer? Is the box ported ,sealed, or bandpass.

I had a friend who used that box. Seemed ok. It's a sealed box that's made of plastic. However, I thought it was too much $$$ for what it was. Check out www.subthump.com Since you were looking into that box, I take it you don't have t-tops? Or you're just gonna throw them in the back seat!!!
How much money are you looking to spend?? On just the subs and amps? Have you already upgraded your other speakers? What about the CD player? Which CD player do you have? Stay away from sony's subs. Out of the brands you listed, JL and Kicker are the best. However, there are a ton of brands out there that are VERY good, but just aren't as well known. A lot of people have trouble buying products from them for this reason. Because they don't know anything about them and they would rather good with the sure bet of JL, Kicker or Rockford. I can understand that. It's a lot of money to possibly waste...... or so they think! Crutchfield is great. Fast shipping and 24 hour tech support. But they are a little expensive. If you don't mind waiting for shipping, the internet is by far the cheapest place to buy car audio. Ebay is THE cheapest, but many people don't like Ebay. www.cbrstereo.com www.ampmanaudio.com are a couple of good sites. But watch it. A LOT of car audio sites are not authorized dealers of that product. That means you will not get a warrenty with it. Ampman is authorized and really a fantastic site. Also, check out your local dealers. They should all be authorized dealers, plus you wouldn't have to wait for shipping.
Watch out when buying an amp. Just because the box says 500W doesn't mean it puts out 500W all the time. That could be the peak amount of wattage. Continous (RMS) should be half of that. So now that amp is only 250WRMS. Or they could have measured it at 18V (a running car is about 14.4V) Or they could just be lying. If you pick a good quality product, their rating should be RMS at 12 or 14.4V. The cheapest "quality" amp for the leasest $$$$ now is the JBL BP600.1 and the BP1200.1. Great amp, just lacks a lot of bells and whistles of a more expensive amp would have.
I'll recommend some more products after you answer the questions I asked somewhere way back there....lol

Check other sites for prices. Crutchfield is expensive compared to some.

www.ikesound.com
www.sounddomain.com
www.thezeb.com

Those are just a few. Out of the subs you mentioned, go with the JL's.

I've built boxes for several guys that decided to ditch their q-logic enclsoures. Mostly because they either rattled apart or just didn't perform well. The air space is limited in those and they don't play as loud since they are built out of particle board. I think you will find that my box comes highly recommended and the price is better too!

ok, i have decided that i will probably get the driver and passenger side stealthboxes (for 10'' subs each) from www.subthump.com b/c i do have t-tops but i was just gonna throw em in the back seats like one of you guys said.

i have chosen kicker compVR CVR10-4 as the 10'' subs (2) i will be using (they say 50-300 RMS and 600 watts peak handling but what amp(s) to get?

the cd player i have now is a blaupunkt w/ no functions (it came in the car when i bought it ) but i wanna get the kenwood KDC one but i dont know whether to get the one w/ preamp outputs or not (please help ) and kenwood 3- way door speakers for the front and back KFC 1737s and KFC 1787s.

You definately want pre-amp outputs with your head unit. The more sets the better. Makes adding an amp so much easier

Good choice with the stealth boxes. Now you can still use your t-top storage area. I think megabass (subthump) makes a 12" version of the stealth box as well....... if you wanted two 12"s..... Ok, those Kicker subs have 4 ohm Dual Voice Coils. To get the most out of your amp, you will have two choices. #1 Buy a 1-channel amp that is 1 ohm stable with about 600W RMS. You will want to wire ALL the positives together and then ALL the negatives together. This will present your amp with a 1 ohm load. #2 option= Buy a 2-channel amp and wire 1 subwoofer to each channel. Your cheapest and best option I think is going to be the JBL 600.1. You can get one for about $175. Get the CD player with RCA pre-outs. It will make things a ton easier. Considered an amp for your speakers in your doors?

Yes the JBL can support both, the cheapest place I have found so far is this one JBL amp but I will keep looking.

The amp Cerwin Vega Fan has posted is the amp I was refering to. You should be able to find it a little cheaper if you look around. About $175. That one amp will power both your subwoofers. You should wire all the negs. together and all the positives together. Have you considered an amp for you other speakers?

You may be right. I just know I've heard of people getting 12" stealthboxes from subthump. Maybe it's only on the pass. side. Stick with the 10"s then. You know..... subthump does have a few other boxes that will still allow t-top storage. Not that one's better then the other..... just thought I'd let you know. Not sure on that trim question. Megabass??? And I would seriously consider getting an amp for your other speakers. Your head unit may say 45 X 4 watts but that is MAX. Nearly every single head unit is measured that way. They really shouldn't..... You will probably be giving your speakers 20-25W RMS. Get an amp that will give them about 75WRMS and you will not regret it!!
