Which way is better
Right now i have a 60watts X 4 amp powering my speakers. This summer I was going to buy another amp, a mono amp, to power the sub im putting in. Ive also decided to upgrade the front speakers from the Pioneers I have in there to some Polk Components. The sub im going to be using is an older DB Crossfire sub, which I was told would be happy with 150watts going to it. NOW, here is the dilemma. Should I buy a large mono amp, around 500watts like i was originally planning on doing OR should I buy a new 2 channel amp for my front components and use my existing 4 channel amp to power the rear speakers and bridge the other two channels to run the sub at 150watts???????????????
Re: Which way is better
Get the large subwoofer amp. Then take the 4 channel amp and bridge it to 2 channels and run your front speakers off of it. If you feel you just have to have rear speakers run them off of the HU's power.
Re: Which way is better
I agree with LS1.
Or... if you want to be really trick, buy a large mono amp, and a large 4-ch, and run the components up front and a pair of mid-bass only's out back... :P that's what I run and love it. But do not put any highs behind u unless you're running a surround-sound processor.

Re: Which way is better
Whats a decent pair of mid basses? Also, im a little worried about dimming lights when my sub hits when i finally have both subs, what can I do, OTHER than getting a high output alternator?
Re: Which way is better
If you really think a cap is what you need then place it as close to the subwoofer amp, not the D-block, as possible. The subwoofer amp is what draws the most current so that's where the cap will do the most (if any) good.
Re: Which way is better
If it were up to me I would get a regular D-block. Then mount the cap as close to the power connections on the subwoofer amp as you can. This is where it will do the most (if any) good.
