i've got a 95 z28 with the bose 5 speaker system. when i bought the car the previous owners said they tried to install a cd player but after it was all said and done the sound quality was poor. they said the back speakers were popping and rattling. i don't know if they had the bass up to much or what. i've talked the people at cuirct city and they said to replace everything. but i'm sure they were just tring to get a ton more money out of me. big shock. is there anyway i can get around this with out going broke replacing speakers and wiring? i would appricate any help yall could give me.

 

Well I would suggest replacing the stock speakers, there is a huge difference in sound quality, when I got my alpines I heard sounds I just didn't hear before because they were either not there or just to quiet to hear, the aftermarket speakers really take more abuse, the material is better and with an amp you'll have loud clean sound. There is no reason you can't leave in the stock speakers, but since speakers are so cheap, why not just get new ones. Oh just saw you have the bose, I can't remember for sure but I think you might have to replace the speakers because its different from the other setups, might want to do a search for that. All you need is the fronts anyway, since rear speakers are just for fill. Also the little speakers aren't really good for great bass, a sub should be used for that, and thus the reason many people ruin the stock speakers from distorting them and turning up the bass past its limits. You could also just get some newer stock speakers from say an 01-02 where they have less wear and tear plus many people just try to get rid of them or leave them in the garage so they should cost very little money used.
