tweeter question

I have a stock Bose 5 speaker system with an amp pushing two 8's. I was thinking about getting two tweeters and mounting them on the inside of the mirror on either side. The question I have is, do I run wire from the HU, splice from stock tweeter in the door, or run wire from the amp? I kind of assume running from the amp will be too much power for the tweeters but I figured it to be a viable option provided the amp has a built in crossover.

34 views and no one has the answer. I didn't realize my question was that difficult.

Re: tweeter question

The tweeter will have to be wired to the HU or it wont recieve a signal to pay music. How you want to send power to it is your choice, you can buy an amp or you can use a preout on your HU. It depends on the power rating of the tweets.

Re: tweeter question

Sound quality wise placing a tweet there is a bad idea. Any imaging you might have now will sound like crap with the added tweets. If that sort of thing isn't important to you then go for it. Don't forget to hi-pass the signal going to the tweets or you can say goodbye to them the first time you crank up the volume.

Re: tweeter question

Does anybody know of a GOOD spot to mount tweeters on the camaro? I have had these tweeters sitting around forever. I agree that the back of the mirror is'nt great but where else is there?

I have my type X tweeters mounted there (woofers in stock location in the doors). It doesn't sound bad at all. Imagine seems to be more infront than to the side like before (with stock monsoon setup - camaro 200watt)..

It's still a bad idea to place them there. What's the point in having the left mid-woofer on your left and the left tweeter on your right?

Well if you're mounting your tweets in the mirror the left tweet will be on your right.

EDIT: Never mind. I was thinking the center mirror for some reason. My bad.
