Troubleshoot a rear defroster

Anyone know how to troubleshoot a rear defroster for a 01 Z28? Mine doesn't seem to be working any longer.

Did you change the circuit breaker?

Re: Troubleshoot a rear defroster

I had an issue with mine sometime ago where the defroster would only stay either stay on for 1-2 min, or stay on indefinitely.

I replaced the 30amp circuit breaker with a 20 or 25amp fuse. No problems in the last 4 yrs..

I checked the fuse. It should be fine, because it shares the circuit with the power seats, and they work fine.

I visually inspected the wires connecting to the heater grid. I now see that that the passenger side connection has come loose from the grid. It's kinda just hanging there right now. I looks like it was soldered in place to begin with. Does anyone have any ideas how to re-attach that connection? Using a solder gun would be tricky.

Re: Troubleshoot a rear defroster

you can also check the voltage in the defrost grid with a DMM. just run down each line of the grid testing for voltage.
