A total waste of time OR an ok idea

I'm wondering if this system is half way respectable, i'm just looking for a little bass and better sound quality it seems decent for the money.

Well, I guess for $275 or whatever it went for, it is decent. You couldn't use the speakers though. Ours are 6.5"

Personally I dont think its a good deal. Cant use the speakers, cant use the box... Honestly it looks cheap. I think youd probably be pretty disappointed after you got it. You cant always go by what the specs say. Each manufacturer rates their equipment differently. It sucks that there isnt a set standard to rate 12-volt equipment.

Save your $$$ and get some quality stuff. It will pay off in the long run!

Thats true. There really should be some standard, so some companies don't lie out their asses, while other ones tell the actual rating, and get less sales because most people are morons and believe whatever they hear. My 1000W Kenwood amp din't even really put out close to 500W.

Anyway, I think your best bet would be to buy a decent head unit, buy some cheap subs, and build your own box. You could do that for about $300.

The amplifier and maybe the subs are the only acceptable parts of that system. Boss Headunits are crap, as for most of their coaxials.

The amplifier separately is about $60 on ebay, and the subs are about $40/pair, definately not a good deal!

If you start another thread with the type of components you want, and your budget, I'm sure you'll get plenty of suggestions.

Yeah, have some pride in your car.

Seriously though, stick with good stuff. If you have to save your $$$ more, then SAVE!!!

You will be a LOT happier in the long run!
