I have finally decided to do something about the sound system in my Camaro. Currently it is completely stock, and the right front speaker is blown. I am considering two options and would like opinions on what people think of option 1.

Option 1 - Replace from door speakers with Infiniti 652.9i and the sail panels Kicker CompVT 08CVT652. Leaving the rest of the system alone.

Option 2 - Same speakers above, but I would use a Kenwood KAC-8404 Amp, and a Pioneer Deck.

I am leaning more towards option 2, but I was just curious if I could even sneak by using the monsoon amp. I know it is pretty crappy, so I probably answered my own question but I am curious what others think.

I am in the same boat. I also have a 97Z and, after doing some searching, shopping, thinking, I have decided to replace amp and speakers. One side note: I thought I had a blown front left speaker. I pulled it out and just for grins, spark tested it...the speaker is not bad, the amp is.

I have a JVC 7 inch touch screen head unit. I just stopped by a local shop to peruse their merchandise. They were out of Kenwood 4ch amps, so wanted to make a deal on Rockford/Fosgate 300 watt amp and speakers...any thoughts from anyone?

Last thought on replacing just the speakers. Dude, that amp is twelve years old...

 

I agree that go big or go home, but this is the last year I can probably drive it to work most days. So it will pretty much spend the next years of it life sitting in the garage getting driven once or twice a week if that.

But with that said, I'll just buck up and replace everything. It will be nice to hook up the iphone and have more songs at my finger tips.

As far as Amp choice is the KAC-8404 a good one? I used to run an old KAC-7xxx 4-channel back in the 90's and it was quite powerful. Also the pioneer deck I am looking at is the DEH-4100ub, any thoughts? I trying to spend less than 600 on the whole setup, which so far I am around $560 shipped with the amp wiring.
