Angry System in and blowing power fuse

I purchased an Alpine Type R 10 inch sub SWR-1041D and i also ordered a thunderform box, still waiting on the box to get here. My buddy gave me a bazooka el1500 amp. I have purchased an 8 guage tsunami wiring kit able to handle 350 watts. I ran the power cord through the firewall from the positive terminal and up through the passenger side kick panel to the ledge behind the back seats. I then ran the ground for the amp to the bolt that holds the rear right side seat belt in place, located near the security sensor. Is this a good place for hte ground? I then ran the RCA plugs which were also tsunami down the drivers side kick panel and brought them under the carpet and up and out to meet the amp. I then ran the remote turn on wire from the amp down the passenger kickpanel into the center console where i would like to hook up a switch ( i have a small switch for a 12 volt source and i was just gonna tap it into the head unit) I then ran a ground wire from the switch back up the kick panel on the passenger side back to the rear of hte car where the hatch lock is and placed a tech screw there to ground the switch. Is this a good ground? Am i missing anything other than hooking up the speaker wire to the sub at a 2 ohm load since it is a DVC 4 ohm speaker.

the tsunami wiring kit came with a 50A AGU fuse, the glass tube type and i broke it when installing the inline fuse holder. I then purchased a pack of 30A fuses from radio shack, it blew those, i then bumped up to a 40A fuse that i got from circuit city, it blew that, i then stopped by an audio shop and got a 60A fuse and it blew that. What could be wrong? by the way the amp is only turned up maybe half way with the gain all the way down and the bass boost also down. The is supposed to carry 500 watt power on a 2 ohm load and 250 watts on a 4 ohm load

so uhm... let me get this straight... you're amp is fused at 80 amps, but you're fusing it at 60 and wondering why the 60A blows???

Here's your Sign... wear it proudly...

Uhm.. if you don't understand, if you're amp is fused at 80 amps, your primary fuse needs to be at... guess what.... 80 amps...

If your amp is fused at 80, your inline should be 80, no less, no more...

Match your front main fuse to the sum of the fuses in the amps... that's how to do it...

You should be ok running 80A through a 8Ga, but it would be better to run a 4Ga...

hey man its cool dont worry about it. I was going to go with a larger Fuse but didn't think it was safe.

there is a link to the wiring kit i bought. It says it was supposed to come with a 30A agu fuse, but it came with a 50A. Are you sure it will be safe to run a 80A fuse?

Can i just upgrade to a 4 guage power wire and ground or do i need to buy a complete kit again. The highest fused kit that htey sell at circuit city is up to a 60A unless, yet they sell 80A fuses at the store. If i need to with with a completely knew kit, then what would be a good reccomendation?

You can just upgrade the power and ground, as long as that main fuse block will take a 4Ga wire.

You can get a 4Ga complete kit from www.ikesound for under $30 shipped, so price out the 4Ga wire itself, and go with what is more economical... the kit maybe cheaper than just buying the 4Ga wire seperately...

that seems pretty reasonable, but then again it may be worthless...

Just upgrade the power cable to 4awg. Since your ground connection is so much shorter than the power cable theres no need to upgrade it to 4awg too.

Where do you think i could find the best price on some 4awg? Also, will the fuse holder that i already have handle an 80A fuse or will it matter? I'm pretty sure its got room to handle a 4awg wire.

If it'll handle the 4Ga, then it'll handle the 80A...

Check your local install shops, they buy the stuff by the 1000' roll and just cut you what you need...
