Suggestions for new speakers
Suggestions for new speakers
Need some help pls.
Took the SS in for service, and the drivers side door speaker is blown. The dealer wants over $200 to replace it. If I'm going to spend $$$, I think I'll look elsewhere for speakers. Any suggestions/ideas on good speakers to replace the factory one's with?
Thanks
Ed

Re: Suggestions for new speakers
What system do you have in there? If its the Monsoon, from what everyone on here who has had one has said, it would be better to just rip everything out and do a custom job. But if you are only looking to replace the speaker, and not having any kind of upgrade really, then Crutchfield.com is a great place to get speakers. Most of them will be better than what is in your car currently, but they wont sound nearly as good as they could if you are simply powering them through the stock amp in the car.
Re: Suggestions for new speakers
Do the custom job! most of the so called Premium Factory Sound Systems are crap as apparent with the Monsoon set up. Perhaps when it was new it kicked @ss, but after a few years they are done!
Some may disagree, but for a good replacement I would go with a set of Kenwood, MB Quart or Image Dynamics Components and coaxials.

Re: Suggestions for new speakers
Thx. for the replies!
I called and spoke to a rep. @ Crutchfield. When I told him my problem and that I had the Monsoon system, his advice was to have the dealer replace the speaker.
I inquired about ripping everything out (ie; speakers) and he said the car would need to be rewired, which I did not want to do.
So, that was the easiest solution. I thought about spending a few bucks on a completely new system, but decided to keep the $$$ and put it in the "5th Gen. Fund".
