Suggestion for a new sub?

I've got this amp. The sub is in the driver's side MTX Thunder Forms. Any suggestions on what sub I should go with?

I know very little about subs (anymore), but I will do my best to answer the basic questions I think you will ask.

What kinds of music to you listen too?
Little of everything but mainly alternative
Do you want a lot of bass?
Not the most important thing but I do want it to hit good at times.
What price range?
Around $100, but I’m willing to go a little higher for quality.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

According to your link, your amp is rated at:
75 Watts x 2 into a 4 Ohm load with less than 0.05% THD+N
150 Watts x 2 into a 2 Ohm load with less than 0.1% THD+N
300 Watts bridged into a 4 Ohm load with less than 0.1% THD+N

so you will want to run at 4 ohms and bridge the amp. You will want the single 4 ohm version.

I started off with the MTX sub that came with the encloser (Thunder 6000 I think). Well after blowing 7 subs the owner of the shop decided to change over to the pioneer sub. With-in 15 minutes it was also blown but this time it got the amp. After waiting on the amp to get fixed by MTX and getting the testing results he said that the problem was that the amp was stronger than stated and that was the problem with blowing the subs. Anyway he wired another Pioneer sub in, but this time he wired it so that the amp thinks there are two subs instead of one. Like I said I don't know and I really didn't care as long as it worked. I didn't drive the car but maybe 4 times a month and 2 of those times were to get the sub replaced again. The shop is about 30 miles from my house, sucks being in a small town.

Anyway what I'm getting around to is will I be able to just wire the sub up normal and turn the amp up? And will I be able to tell a lot of difference with K-series?

I know after they wired it up that way I thought it sounded different, but like I said I was just happy it worked.

Here is the sub that I have in there right now.

Thanks for all your help.

Sorry I forgot to includ this info.

Test Voltage: 12.5 VDC

4 ohm testing

THD+N <.018%
Signal to Noise Ratio 112db
Max Power @ 0.05% THD+N 118Wrms/Ch

2 ohm Testing

THD+N <.034%
Max Power @ 0.1% THD+N 196Wrms/Ch

Is that the EXACT sub you have? The dual 4 ohm version? If so, your installer is a moron. I bet he bridged the amp and then wired the two voice coils in parallel. Which presents the amp with a 2 ohm load. The amp is only stable to 4 ohms when bridged. I bet the amp sent out a fury of distortion and power trying to deliver into 2 ohms which would fry most woofers in seconds. And I see that your amp doesn't have any protection features listed. So if the woofer was able to hang on a second, the amp would probably fry too. Then when he said he wired it to make the amp think it was two subs instead of one, he really just wired the voice coils in series which presents the amp with an 8 ohm load. Which also only gives you half the power capable by that amp.

Anyhow, if you bridge the amp, you need to run at 4 ohms. If you get the single 4 ohm version of the EDK, just wire the positive lead on the woofer to the positive output on one channel. then wire the negative lead on the woofer to the negative output of the OTHER channel on the amp.
