Subthump T-Top boxes.....

This kind of box:

How exactly are the T-Tops secured? I'm looking into getting more thump and adding some 12's, but still want the T-Tops out of the backseat and this box looks viable. I still can't get it out my head that if I ever got in a wreck those Tops would just become airborne and crack me in the back of the head....Anyone have any experience with these boxes and are comfortable with them?

They slide in there... You might have to lift the first top up slightly to get the other one to slide in there all the way. The box also has a nice foam strip for protection, but it melts off in the extreme heat (110*+). There is a rectangular gap that they are housed.

I've had my T-top box for three years, about... Never had ONE problem w/ the tops sliding or moving whatsoever. I'm 100% satisfied w/ the box!

Well that's a load off of my mind, lol. I was just curious as to how snug they were in that box. Do the Tops hinder any rear window vision? They look like they stick up a bit.

No rear view restriction at all. You don't even notice them there unless you really look.. THey actually sit at more of an angle than what it may seem in the pics.

No higher than the top of the back seat.. Maybe not even that high.

I get a lot of compliments on the box at shows...

i've had that box for about 3 years as well. love it for the most part, my only complaints is it's not made out of high quality sound board, and maybe I don't have them in all the way but the plastic started to rub on the tops and left some wear marks near and on the latches.

^ The foam padding strip? When it was really hot, the adhesive would come off on the outside top, but was easily removed.

Where do you guys mount the amps? Is there a rack to mount underneath the box? How big is it? (Does it fill the ENTIRE trunk?)

I bought the box in the first picture, should be here friday. My amps are mounted behind the rear seat, in front of the box, on the flat area. Looks, and works, great.

^ pics?? I need to move my amp. Ever since I had it mounted in the driver's side rear in a vertical position, my amp s**t the bed.. .It only works for a second if I knock on it.

At FIRST I had it under the box. There is room under there to mount it. IMO, get a piece of custom cut ply wood to mount the amp to. There's just not a lot of room to snake the power wire thru. The amp will sit on it. IIRC..
