Subs Question

Alright guys I think I'm gonna get the Milhouse box and run 2 10's in it, but I'm gonna keep my stock HU. First of all, what subs would you recommend that don't cost a ton of money. Also, someone said I'd have to get the PAC OEM 1 and wire that in, is that all I need to add so I can run subs and an amp to my stock HU? Last thing, if I'm just gonna run the amp to the 10's, is a 2-channel amp ok or should i get a multi channel? Thanks for the input

if you want cheap subs, you can get brand new Pioneer 10'' for 44.99+S&H. on ebay. I've heard a set of 12'', and they sounded good.

If your only gonna run sub off the amp, you will be fine with a 2Ch amp. You could even get a 1Ch amp, and wire the subs in parallel. But i don't know how good that is.

IMO, stay away from pioneer subs. You could do much better with a used pair of 10w3s or Alpines. Even new ones aren't terribly expensive so save yourself the headache . As for the amp, you can either get a two channel amp or a mono amp. You don't need anything else since the speakers will still be running off the HU thru the PAC.

I would go for a pair of infinity reference subs. They handle a lot of power and you can pick them up on ebay for under $100 each.

You can get better quality stuff if you use $200 to get one 12" instead of two tens for $100 each.

Hey man, I had a single 12" in my last Camaro and that did great. If you're willing to spend on a good 12" it can sound better than two cheaper 10"s. I had a 12" MTX Thunder 8000. It's a 400 watt RMS/1000 watt peak woofer. That's more power than you'll ever need in a mid-sized hatchback like a Camaro. I only had the amp turned halfway up and it still drowned out the factory BOSE system. And btw, I don't know if you can get a stealthbox for a 12" woofer, but I posted a message on this forum. Check your AOL messenger, hope you enjoyed the game!

Just wait until you see new set-up! Roughly 4000WRMS!!! I'm hoping to be in the 155db range at about @45Hz !!! I'll post pics when I finish everything up.

Ok, so what I MEANT to say was unless you're setting up a competition level system, 400 watts is plenty for the subwoofer'. firebirdude, sounds like a helluva setup! How do you power that? I'd think you'd need a completely different alternator, or one damn big capacitor. Can't wait to see the pics.
