Which sub would be better for me?
Which sub would be better for me?
Thinkin of getting either the jl audio 12w3v2's or the 12 wo's, they will be powered by a mtx 2150x 150x2, and will be in a sealed box, the ones that are custom made for the f-bodys, not sure how much cu. ft. they are, between 0.85-1.50 thought. What would you suggest? Thanks
Ahh, someone going old school with their amps... just keep that amp ventilated, they get hot.
As for the subs, it's really what sounds better to you. If i were you, i'd pick up the 12w3's. They have a wide range of power, and unfortunately your amp is on the lower end of it's spectrum. This is both good and bad. Good because the chances of you blowing them up is slim (doesn't mean it can't happen) and bad because your music won't be at it's fullest. They are versatile subs and will sound fine at this level, but they'd sound better with another couple hundred watts. If a new amp isn't in your future, you may want the w0's just because they'll sound better with less wattage. One way to find out what you like best tho
The boxes custom made for the F-bodies are usually right around .85 cubic feet.

Yeah that amp is a kick *** little amp, it was in the car when I bought it, that was 3 years ago. Do they even make a 12W3, there site only lists a 15" and 18"?, I think the W0 will be slightly over powered if I use my current amp, the W0's are rated 125 cont. power handling, or is that being generous? I'm not sure if i'm gonna change amps anytime soon or not. Thanks
Wow called a local shop who carrys jl audio, the only one around and there $219 a piece for the w3's, did some more searching and I think the alpine type s 1241 would be a better sub for me, better matched too the amp, slightly less recommended box volume, should be cheaper too, what do you think.
