Sub Frequencies

I was just here, thought I fixed my problem, but I was wrong. As I stated before I am running two Memphis Studio Brand 12" Subs and a Memphis 800watt amp. I am extremely new to car audio, and when I started getting little cracking noises in my car, I ****ed with my frequencies now I cant seem to get them right. I got them descent right now, running one at 50hz and the other at around 180hz. I'm also having a little trouble figuring out what the "gain" control does on my amp. Please help me get the cracking outta my speakers and put all the bass back into the subs

well, the frequencies are probably your crossover settings... Probably either low-pass or hi pass... with your speaker's I'd set them to low-pass @ about 100 Hz.

The gain how to set... turn it all the way down.. turn your HU about 3/4-7/8 full volume and increase the gain until you can hear distortion comming out of the speakers. That's the best way to do it without some fairly sofisitcated equipment that I'm sure you don't have.
