Sub boxes for t-tops
Alright guys I'm trying to decide on what box to get in the Z. Would you recommend the Millhouse Box or the T-Top box that I can still slide my t-tops through. Is the sound quality on the millhouse box when it's down still good or is it only good when flipped up? Also, when you have the millhouse box, do you put the amp in the little cubbie hole on the side? Thanks for any replies
I also have the stock bose head unit, will I have to buy a new head unit in order for everything to work? Sorry I'm kinda new to the car audio world and don't really know if my car has preamps already or not

The Milhouse box sounds good in either listening position. Maybe a little better when firing into the well. You can place your amps on the back wall or in the cubby area if it will fit.
With the T-top box, you can place amps on the back deck. You might want to have some sort of amp rack to conceal them somewhat though. But there is still some room underneath the box unless they're huge. The sole purpose of this box is to give you some place to store the tops besides the back seat or sliding around behind the seat. Extremely nice and more functional that that q-logic thing.

if your going to run an amp you cant use the stock head unit because you need rca preouts. before you buy a head unit decide how many amps you are going to run. the most rca preouts ive seen one one head unit were for the front, rear, and sub.
Well you CAN buy a new CD player with built in preamps. But i ran a preamp adapter that splices into your rear speakers. That worked just the same as a built in preamp, and you can keep your stock head unit.

It's called an LOC (Line Output Converter). It steps the speaker level signal down to a line level (RCA) signal. You can get them at any install shop. It may not work for your setup since you have the BOSE system though. A lot of people have tried this with the BOSE and have had bad problems with noise. You might want to look into the PAC OEM-1. Using it with the GM21 and AMP-RCA wiring harnesses seem to be the best way to add and amp/sub to the factory setup.
