Well, I didn't have the MTX setup, but I had a JL box with a 10w3 (and at a different point in time a 10w0) and both sounded very good with 400 watts..

I recommend Subthump over anything else. But I'm thrilled with my box!

Re: sub box and woofer

If it's LOUD thumping bass that you want then a Stealthbox isn't the answer. They just don't have enough internal volume for that kind of bass performance. If it's accurate bass reproduction that you're after then a single 10" with about 300W will do the job.

Having a sub that matches well to the enclosure is critical. I used to have a single JL 10W3 with 600W that performed OK. I switched to an Alpine Type-S sub and it totally out performed the JL sub. I've since switched to dual Type-S subs in twin SubThump Stealthboxes. I couldn't be happier with the setup.

There is no best. Decide what you want from your system. Then decide how much you're willing to pay for this system. Then shop around as much as possible. Speaker selection should be done by the person buying the speakers.

Yes, for the passenger side box, some cutting is required on the plastic covering.

My amp sits there anyway, so I went with the drivers side stealth.
Running an Alpine Type-R and feeding it about 400 watts. Sounds great!

Sure did. I used layers of duct tape to mark where I wanted to cut. It took about 4 or 5 passes with a sharp utility knife to cut all the way thru the plastic.
