Stock CD Player Prob.
Stock CD Player Prob.
hey guys i have a question well my stock cd player wont take my cds and it says error...and me and my bro switched the cd player in that stereo with another cd player that was said to work...but it did the same thing...is this fixable?
Re: Stock CD Player Prob.
The factory HU has proved time and time again that it is NOT a reliable unit. You should really consider going to an after-market stereo. If you're dead set on keeping the factory look you'd better get used to the factory HU crapping out on you.
Re: Stock CD Player Prob.
I have the same problem with mine. Unless it's warm out, my Bose CD player dishes me an ERR on EVERY disc I put in. Am I dead set on the stock look? Yes. I absolutly hate the look of an aftermarket deck in an F-Body. I'm not into putting a big stereo in it either cause thats equals useless weight. When the Bose plays, it plays nice and thats all I need.
So my question to all of you electronics buffs is- Is there anything you can do to tear these suckers apart and do seomthing in there to fix them?
Thanks

Re: Stock CD Player Prob.
Have fun with the Bose, mine used to just play when it was warm, then it just quit all together. It might last a bit longer but then it'll probably do what mine did.

Re: Stock CD Player Prob.
my factory one did the same thing, mainly when cold but when warm also, i had one of those cd's with brushes on them to clean the lens, did that a few times and it made it work better, i get errors almost never any more...
Re: Stock CD Player Prob.
I have a 93 Z28 which have differnt color buttons than the later ones. Anyway it was impossible to find a replacement factory CD player.
What I did was bought one out of a 96 and just replaced the CD player part of it. If you are electronics savy at all, it is no problem. The thing basically comes apart in 3 major pieces. The faceplate, the tuner(regular radio) section, and the CD player. It was very simple, took about an hour total. Works like a charm now!!
