Speakers for a Neon

Okay, it's time to break down and buy some new speakers for a 2000 plymouth neon. Does anyone have any suggestions as to brand, size, and where to buy speakers? Im on a limited budget...

Rears are 6x9's and very easy. I believe the doors are 6.5's, but could be 5 1/4. Theyre also fairly easy to do...

Listen to a bunch of different brands. Everyones ears are differfent.

Theres a tool you get at your local auto parts store for about $3-5 that works wonders. You just have to be carefull you dont shoot them across the bay. Theyre hard to find and replace. Ive gotten hit in the face so many times by them little ****ers....

www.mobiletoys.com will give ya the speaker size. As for which brand, I suggest start listening to different brands and see how much you want to spend...I say go Focal

Judy, I already told you a while ago you just need to name a price and I'll find something online.

I'll be the one installing these things. The dash speaker are the ones that look like a PITA to replace.

I wouldnt even bother with the dash. Theres probably not anything there anyway.

If she decides she wants something, I believe theyre 3.5's and the bash pops up, similar to that in my T/A and I assume in the Camaro's too...

Oh, there are speakers there alright......they crackle worse than the others.

I'm wondering how they have those speakers wired up. I'd like to say screw the dash speakers, maybe just run new speaker wire to the doors, since I'm assuming there is probably some funky wiring w/ the front speakers (most likely 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel).

That I couldnt tell you. Of all the Neons Ive done, none have had dash speakers. One had an aftermarket component set, with tweets in he dash and mids in the door. It sounded pretty damn good, even for running off of an aftermarket radio.

You could probably get away with a nice co-axil in the door, and skip the dash all together. If you keep the dash out/disconnected, you wont have to worry about running new wire. This isnt an Infinity system is it?

Oh, be sure to solder the connections in the door. A ton of moisture/water finds its way into the doors of them Neons...
