speakers cutting out.
speakers cutting out.
I don't know much of anything about car audio.. just basics... it's a '96 z28
but the whole sound system was done by the previous owner.. but it seems as though the speaker in the front dash (yes, he mounted a speaker in the dash) along with the door speakers and rear quarter speakers will all randomly cut out. You can only hear sound from the tweeters and the sub.
what i'm thinking is.. the amp for the speakers maybe shot? but i'm not sure if tweeters are normally run of an amp ( again, clueless) and then the sub has it's own amp which is why you only hear the tweeters and sub?
any input appreciated.. thanks guys.

sounds like the good ol twisted wires and duct tape connections. I solder Or wire nut then black tape only. I have given up on crimps they seem to fall apart too easy. check for clean grounds at amps and damaged speaker wires. Amps seem to work or not turn on at all. Usually bad connections or roached speakers.
hmm, alright i will double check grounds and connections, i initially thought that.. but then kind of ruled it out due to the fact that all 5 speakers would cut out at the same time.
regardless... can anyone tell me a way to check if i've got a fault amp on my hands? i know futureshop/bestbuy can test it.. just curious if there's somthing i can do.
