Speaker Size

What size speakers (not subs) would fit best in a 93-97gen Camaro?

6 3/4 ???

do these fit better than the 6.5 and 6.25 that are in the car?

I have heard of people having fitting problems with some speakers that are out there.

The stock front door speakers are 6 3/4", AKA 6.5S for oversized. They will be a direct replacement with the stock ones.

As far as what speakers I think fit best , I'm gonna go with Focals. They don't make an oversized 6.5" per say, but the stock mounting bracket is trash anyway. There are plenty of brands that do make an oversized 6.5", are you wanting to run coaxials(all together) or components(seperate tweeter)? What kinda budget do you have? Do you have an aftermarket head unit? Are you willing to run an external amp to power them? From there you will be able to get some better opinions.

Those Koda 6.1's are very nice speakers. I haven't ever installed a set, so I'm not sure if you will need a custom mounting braket. I would suggest that you make one anyway so that they mount more securely. If you have a Camaro you are gonna need to do a custom mount for the tweeters.

Also, those puppies can handle 100W RMS so you really need to be running them with an external amp. I doubt you will get that good of results with your head unit's internal amplifier.

I have the Koda component set, but I haven't installed them yet. I already bought the 6.75-6.5" adapter plates from crutchfield ($12/pair) ..... so I know mine will fit!! I'm planning on using Kevin's tweeter pods as well..... although I'm not 100% sure they will fit just yet. It's gonna be a tight squeeze. These tweets are pretty big!

Wait a second here...

Now I don't know much about speakers at all... but I do know that there are a pair of factory speakers up front in a Camaro and there are a pair on the middle "column" right beside the rear seats. Do only one pair of speakers come with that Koda package? Do they go in the front or in the back? Do I only need that one pair???

A component set comes with two tweeters, two woofers (6 1/2") and two crossovers. You run power from the amp to the crossover and run wires from the crossover to woofer/tweet. You should put 1 woofer, 1 tweet and 1 crossover on the front driver's side and the other half of the set on the front passenger side. Then you decide if you even need rear speakers. Many people don't like having rear speakers...... others can't live without them.....

Do you have to use another amp to power them?

The Koda's are underated at 100W RMS. You will need to feed them atleast 75W each to really get some good sound out of them. So you should be looking for an amp that produces around that. They won't sound very good on head unit power, the really need more juice. Are there any amplifiers you like the look of real well? Look into some of the more value oriented ones if you want to save money. Here is a list of brands that I like in no particular order.

MTX
Alpine
Eclipse
Orion
Rockford Fosgate
Kicker

Most of these brands are a good value for someone with a system for personal enjoyment. There are some brands that are more audiophile oriented, but you will pay for it.

Why are you wanting to run a 4 channel instead of a two? A two channel will be less expensive. Honestly I know nothing about Cadence. They are not a brand I am familiar with, I do know of many different brands that will fit you needs though.

I'm sorry, but you should stop looking at that site now! I looked at all the amplifiers they carry and I know most of them and they are all very low quality. I don't know Cadence, but I wouldn't buy them if they are on a site that carries Pyramid and Pyle. You need to be looking at nicer equipment than that. Do you already have an amp for a sub or anything, or are you just starting to add stuff?
