sound only from subwoofer
sound only from subwoofer
I had a new head unit installed today, don't really know how to do it myself...the wiring. Anyways afterwards I decided to go ahead and try and hook up my Ipod to it (its an Alpine 9831) so I removed the dash, took the head unit out (didn't unplug anything) and hooked up an auxilary converter from the aux input on the head unit that switched it to RCA cables. After doing this though sound now only comes from my subwoofer, no speakers. Not just low end though, I can faintly hear high end stuff (as much as a 12" could run). Everything is still plugged into the back of the head unit as it was, so uh what else could I have done to cause this?
Good news is though the Ipod works

what kind of deck is it? some have a reset button you could try resetting it, other than that if it happened only after you pulled the deck out, i would pull it out and double check to make sure everything is plugged it and plugged in all the way.
in any event, you need to set the crossover on your sub better. sounds like possibly the crossover on your deck or you amp was turned off or something. playing high frequencys to a sub is a good way to find out what a burned voice coil smells like.
my alpine had an option on it to turn off the v-drive amp that was built in (thats what powers the speakers) so look in your manual, find out how to turn the internal amp on and off, and make sure it's switched to on
