short in speaker?

i have a set of kicker speakers in my front doors. the last few weeks the passanger side has been sounding like it was blown. i just pulled the door panel off to check it out and looking at it every thing looks fine. after turning it on i noticed it was sounding blown even though every thing looked good. i pushed on it lightly and it sounded fine while holding some light pressure on it. after i let off the speaker stopped playing all together. once i touched it it started playing again. if i push on the cone i can get it to stop playing and start again by pushing and holding on it. is it blown or does it have some kind of short. also is it junk now. i had soldered on the speaker wire and the connections are still good. any ideas

Re: short in speaker?

Sounds like the voice coil has detached from the cone. Your speaker is toast if that's the case.
