Right Turn Signal Problems

I know I posted on General Tech already but I'm not having ANY luck at all... I'm hoping some of you here can help...

Okay, after quite a bit of screwing around between the 4-Ways and the Right Turn Signal, I realised when one doesn't work, the other doesn't work either. Also I found out the Front Right signal is fine, the one with the bulb I just changed is working just as it normally should only it stays SOLID when the Signal stays solid, it's my REAR signal thats gone haywire

THIS is EXACTLY what is happening...

1st Try...

4-Ways
Left Front Signal - Okay
Left Rear Signal - Okay
Right Front Signal - Okay
Right Rear Signal - Okay

Right Turn Signal
Right Front Signal - Okay
Right Rear Signal - Okay

Then I went to check again and to my surprise...

2nd Try...

4-Ways
Left Front Signal - Okay
Left Rear Signal - Okay
Right Front Signal - Okay
Right Rear Signal - Dead... Simply dead.... (Note that the car wasn't even STARTED to perform this test between the last test...)

Right Turn Signal
Right Front Signal - Lit but solid
Right Rear Signal - Dead...

3rd Try...

4-Ways
Left Front Signal - Okay
Left Rear Signal - Okay
Right Front Signal - Okay
Right Rear Signak - Okay ?!?!?!

Right Turn Signal
Right Front Signal - Okay
Right Rear Signal - Okay

This means that my Signal dies for no apparent reason and then just comes back to life! This has been going on for quite awhile and if it were the bulb it would've died by now. Help would be great because I'm tired of using hand signals and merging into traffic without a signal.

Thanks

Re: Right Turn Signal Problems

I had the same problem as you just last week. My right rear signal would work intermitently (flashing), but would always light up solid when it was supposed to. I was puzzled by the problem too, but then I just replaced the bulb and all is working fine again. Can't think of why, but I was just trying anything as I too was frustrated with making hand signals to turn, etc. For the price of the 1157 bulb, it's worth a try.

Good luck.

Re: Right Turn Signal Problems

When my rear turnsignal stops working, it simply dies... no light at all... not "it won't flash".. it simply won't light up and when that happens the FRONT signal lights up but just stays solid. Then I try her 3 minutes later and it's just fine. I think I came to a hypothesis and it's to do with heat. I've noticed it always worked fine after a cold start, and if I don't use it for a long time or while I'm waiting at a light, I can get some good lengths of use before it starts acting up. I think that heat is screwing around with, or maybe even bending the weakened wire in the bulb, causing the current to be incomplete at times but when it's cooled it returns back to shape and works fine... make sense?
