Replacing factory monsoon

Ok guys i really need your help here. I apologize if this is a repost but I am new to this. I have been told a hundred different things by a hundred different people. Is it true that you cannot replace certain components of this system you have to replace the whole thing?? From what I've been told it has to be all or nothing b/c replacing just the stereo or just the speakers is bad. I would like to replace the deck with a nicer CD player and add an amp and a sub but keep my factory system is this possible??? Suggestions?? Don't wanna spend too much money but don't want crappy equiptment either. Help!!!

Start by going here and reading all of the posts. There's lots of useful information regarding F-body stereo systems.
