Replacing Bose Speakers

I bought a pioneer 4700 head unit from crutchfield and it came with a wiring adaptor for the original wiring so I would like to be able to do install the speakers without running new wires. I have the panelling completely disassembled and removed the stock bose speakers, I connected the new speakers to the red and green leads that the original speaker was connected to and went to test the speaker to make sure it was connected by turning on the head unit, I got nothing to the speaker. I notice the stock speaker housing has the bose mini-amp(?) for the speaker to which the red and green wires lead, so my question is twofold, did I connect the new speaker to the right leads or do I need to attatch it to wires above the bose housing (there are 4 that lead out of it) to bypass it? Or am I jumping the gun and do I need to remove all traces of the original bose system before any part of the new one will work? (passengers side bose speaker is still in place, as is the rear speaker in the trunk and I have been unable to locate any bose amp)

Honestly its easiest to run new wires but what you could try doing is figuring out which of the 4 wires is the signal wires and use those bypassing the amp
