Replacing Amps??
Replacing Amps??
I would like to change the speakers in my car, and i was just wondering if i were to just replace the monsoon amp with an aftermarket amp would i be able to hook up 4ohms speakers with the monsoon head unit?? I have an good amp lying around, and if thats all i would have to do then it would be ideal without having to change the hu.
Re: Replacing Amps??
The factory HU powers the 4ohm factory tweets and rear mids. It's only the POS Monsoon amp that powers the 2 ohm factory woofers.
I would just use the amp you have to power all the speakers. There really isn't anything to be gained by powering the tweets with the factory HU.

Re: Replacing Amps??
So all i would have to do is replace the monsoon amp and put my amp in it's place, then i would be able to run my aftermarket speakers in the doors and rear seat and would be able to keep the monsoon head unit?
Re: Replacing Amps??
Only if your amp has speaker level inputs. The POS Monsoon amp is nothing more than an over hyped power booster. It doesn't have RCA level inputs like a true power amp does. And the factory HU doesn't have RCA outputs.
