Replaced front speaker, sail speaker doesnt work
Replaced front speaker, sail speaker doesnt work
I replaced the 6.5" speakers in the door with some new sony explods... they sounds pretty nice, but for some reason once i switched out the factory speakers and put in these, the sail panel speakers (right behind the driver/pass seats) only put out bass.... they used to be primarily mids, but now only bass..... i even switched some speakers around to make sure it wasnt the speakers and it wasnt... i can not figure out whats wrong with it...
Any ideas?

Re: Replaced front speaker, sail speaker doesnt work
Bose Systems are very very touchy. The speakers are usually specialized or "tuned" to the whole system so all the components work as a perfect single unit. If you disrupt one component, you mess em all up. If you do infact have a Delco Bose headunit still in that car, its a good idea to change it because it's putting out a lower impedance than your aftermarket speakers and eventually you will ruin your head unit or speaker. I had to gut the entire factory bose system in my '95 maxima due to this.
Re: Replaced front speaker, sail speaker doesnt work
HU's do not "put out" an impedance. The impedance is determined by the speakers and how they are connected to the HU or amp. The HU or amp output power to the load (the speakers) which is represented as an impedance in ohms.
Amar Bose doesn't like for people to monkey with his designs. That's why when you upgrade a Bose setup it's usually best to replace everything or leave it alone.

Re: Replaced front speaker, sail speaker doesnt work
It is the factory 10 speaker setup.... however my HU is aftermarket.... its a 96 so i think it was the last year without the amp mounted near the spare... However i had to replace these speakers cause they were both blown.....
Could it have something to do with the little computer chip/resistor mechanism connected to the speaker? at first i bypassed it, seeing as how my new speakers sounded better that way.. but i ended up hooking it up just like the factory speakers and still nothin from the sail panel speakers....
Will i most like have to just buy new speakers? all the other speakers in the car work fine still....

Re: Replaced front speaker, sail speaker doesnt work
For your year of car the amp would have been located under the rear seat passenger side arm rest.
There are know computer chip on speakers. If anything you may have bypassed the capacitor that blocks low frequencies from going to the tweeter. If you did that you more than likely blew the tweeter.
