Remote wire

My JL audio amp will not turn on when i have my remote wire hooked up but when i unplug it then its fine? my car has been down for two years with an engine rebuild and im just hookin it back up. the Alpine deck never came out and it worked when i parked my car. so all i have done is pluged the wires back in? Does any one have an idea what the problem could be?
thanks for any help
Dustin

Well there's only one way to find out.....Just get rid of that whole remote wire and run a new one to the cd player. That'll solve it. You'll probably also find out what the problem was along the way too.

How can your amp turn on without a remote wire?

simple! i am a jL audio dealer.... the jl amps are one of the few
amps on the market with the option of a remote wire. on the
side of the amp where the controls are there should be a switch
that says signal switching on or off. what this does, is that if
you do not run a remote wire it turns on when it recieves audio
signal from the rca's. i personally still would use the remote
wire and switch the signal sensing off.
