Is it possible to install a remote starter for an auto transmission on a stick shift if there is no neutral safety switch?
I know the possible implications and this is not for my TA but for my daily driver 240sx that never gets left in gear (I'm the only one who drives it). Looks like I can score a really good deal on a new unit, hence why I'm asking.

yes for a little safety hook the neutral safety switch to your parking brake, so it can only rs when e brake is up

So would the standard ProStart remote starter work for my manual then? It appears the manual version just has alot of extra stuff to not make the car start if it's in gear.

it will work fine just bypass clutch safety switch

My car doesn't require the clutch to start, it's been bypassed by a previous owner I guess.Originally Posted by PentaVolvo

well if the car doesnt have a clutch safety switch, there is nothing to stop it from starting either with the key or a remote start device. So you have no problem other than the ever present possibility of your car driving away because for whatever reason the tranny was in gear. You only need to bypass the clutch switch if it works to begin with.
I have a on/off switch for the starter as well, in the event I have to park it in gear (which I never had to do yet) Also for the summer time I'll disable it.
I have a family of 5, that would be why I'm the only one who drives the car because the family doesn't fit in it. We have the jellybean for that. My car could just as easily slip out of gear and roll away somewhere if I parked it that way.
I'm going to see about wiring it so the car will only start if the handbrake is on.
