Relocating a/c controls

I want to relocate the a/c controls in order to open the space for another Din size unit. My question is whether the wires on hte controls can be extended? I know older controls used to be pressured tubes, but now theyre all standard electrical right?

I think it should be possible !!! I have a friend who has this done in a 96 Tahoe to make room for a T.V.
He ended up installing the controlls in the center console .

I know back in 93/94 they had the vacuum tubes, I'm not sure when electrical was standard. I'm positive the tubes would be extremly difficult to extend while maintening full funtionality. I might cut up a junked car to double check the wires in the newer cars.
