Redoing the stereo, need some feedback!

So the front driver side door speaker and the right rear factory sub are both shot. I was looking at just replacing with facotry speakers, but at 75 a piece, and hearing how often they go out, I figured I'll just redo the system. So here's what I've been looking at.

Head Unit: Alpine CDA-9857
Front Speakers: Alpine Type-S SPS-17C2
Mid Speakers: Rockford 8" P28S4 Subs

Since the rear speakers are 4 ohms, they should be fine, and are still working good. I'll get a 2-Channel amp also to power the two subs as well. I am going to try and fit the subs in the stock sail panel area, hopefully with mild work to make them fit. But will they be too deep to fit in the sails? Other than what I have listed or mentioned, is there anything else I should know about? Will this setup work as I'm hoping to do it? I don't want to spend a boat load of money, and I'm using my discount from Best Buy to purchase everything. I'm just looking for something that will sound as good, if not better than the stock system, and still hit as hard if not better. Thanks ahead of time!

Do you know of another brand that makes an 8" sub that you would recommend? Will a 10" sub fit in the sail panel?

I wouldn't run subs in the sail panel. You'll be running them IB, and poorly at that.

We can recommend many awesome 10" subs that will fit easily in either side of the rear hatch area

I absolutely agree with it, even if you succeed in fitting subs there, they will sound like crap. Get a driver side box, and put a normal midrange drivers in sail panels, if you want.

I usually keep my tools in the little driver side compartment, that's why I was avoiding putting a sub in there and just reusing the stock sail panel locations. Will they sound like crap in the sail because the wood enclosure of a box will produce a better sound?

First of all, small, less or equal 8" subs, shallow enough to fit in sails are more midranges then subs, they will never sound right and will be weak. Second, this kind of an "enclosure" will dramatically decrease performance of any subs, due to it's depth, shape, etc. And the third, I will be damned, if the subs in sails will not rattle trim pieces/everything around them. Midranges in sail panels works quite well though.
Edit: actually, there are some subs, that will run good in infinite baffle mode, haven't had a first hand experience with them.

IB is awesome when done right, however you have to have a perfect seal between the front wave and rear waves. If they aren't seperated 100%, you will get cancellation. It's funny watching a sub move to full excursion without making any noise
