Red Top vs Yellow Top Optima

Could I just settle with a red top instead of a yellowtop battery. This will be located in the trunk area ran in parallell with the other battery. I will be using it to run (2) Power 501 BD's and (1) Power 501X. I can get the red top at pep boys, I will have to order the yellow top.

If you're planning on using it as a secondary battery for the stereo only, then I belive the yellow top would work better. Ture, he red top has more cca's for use as a starting battery, but not as much deep cycle capabilities as the yellow top.

I think the red top would work, but I also think the yellow top would be better. JMO

BTW, I use a yellow top as my only battery and no complaints

doesn't matter, the yellow is an excellent battery.

but if you don't play your radio with the car off, or pull the battery out and let it sit then the red top will work fine.

you need the deep cycle if your gonna kill the battery and recharge it all the time, if it's constantly charged by your alt then it won't be a problem.

BUT....
you should replace the one up front as well or buy an isolater. if you don't then your front battery may drain from the rear battery when the car is off. by replacing both you generally don't have a problem.
