Question Question about CD changer and compatibility

My friend is selling his 2001 SS and he offered me to buy some of his parts. He has an aftermarket CD changer with his Monsoon system, but he has a tape deck in his receiver. I have a single CD in the dash - this may be a stupid question but can I use his changer with my CD in dash Monsoon receiver? What button would I press to get to the CDs in the changer, right now if i press the CD button, it goes to the CD, how would you switch between the CD in the dash and the ones in the changer? What buttons on the receiver or on the steering wheel would change? Thanks!

A lot depends on what year your car's HU is. The factory CD player didn't come with changer controls (only the tape decks) until about mid-way thru the '99 model year.

I have a 2000 Z28
going from my memory when i press
1 - previous track
2 - random
3 - next track
4 - search back
6 - search forward

Would any of these buttons change their functionality, do i even have the capability of using a changer with this setup? Thanks

You should then since your car is a 2000. Read your owner's manual. It should tell you what you need to know.
