Wassup guys. my question is can i still keep the stock 12 disc changer if i get a new sound system? i have the stock monsoon joint. aslo would like 2 keep the steering wheel controls, is the possible 2 keep also? thanx . Peace. R.C

 

It's always possible to keep your stock head unit, as long as you get an RCA converter for any amp you want to use.

 

I'm pretty sure the factory changer only works with the factory HU. The connector is only compatable with the factory HU's connection. Since there is no industry standard for digital protocol between HU and changer you can't mix and match different brands. Not without an adapter of some kind. PIE makes an adapter that lets you use a Kenwood changer with the factory HU. I'm not aware of any adapters that allow you to use a factory changer with an after-market HU.

As for the steering wheel controls do a search on this forum for PAC SWI-X
As long as your HU uses an infrared remote control you can use the PAC adapter to keep your steering wheel controls.

I've got a question about the 12 disk changer and the stock Monsoon HU. If i got an OEM changer, would I be able to hook it up to a stock headunit that didn't originally come with the changer?

Same goes for another brand of changer?
