programing my new keyless entry remote

sorry i didnt know where else to post this.

ok guys i bought a new keyless entry pad the other day. it should be the right one as the FCC number matches. the only difference is the hatch release is now a 2x one instead of the one push one like i have now. ive read the owners manual on doing this but i still cant get it to work right.

i get to the step where it says now press both lock and unlock on the first pad for 15 seconds and then the car responds by locking and unlocking the doors. it does this fine and im using the one key pad that came with the car. it works barely.

the instructions then say do the same with the next pad. so i grab the new one and try it and nothing happens. yes it has a battery thats in there correctly. so i figured ok well maybe i should just try it with the new one only. so i start the process over again and only try using the new pad but nothing happens then either. it only gives me the response saying its programmed with the key pad that came with the car.

so any suggestions as to why its not working? im assuming im missing something somewhere. thanks. Trey
