Power Windows

ok, so i have this 2000 z28. about a year ago, i noticed that when i would lower my windows, it wouldn't go back up. i'd have to wait a few minutes (too cool something off?) in order to have the window go back up. it happened a few times on the passenger side but the passenger side is fine now. however, as time went by, i'd have to wait longer and longer in order to raise my driver side window.. now, it doesn't even go up or down. i don't think it's the motor mechanism, it kinda seems like something was overheating. is there a quick fix? please help thanks!

Usually when the motors wear out they do overheat and get shut down to cool off. That sounds like what is happening to you and if that is the case the only real solution is to replace the motor.

Shoebox has some good info on his site as well.

That has to be the motor. You can do the install yourself and save hundreds. If you do it yourself the only cost is the window motor. Here's simple instructions on the easiest way to replace the window motor.

it's not that difficult to do. I actually replaced my driver side door today, was gonna do the pass side but didn't have time. I have sound deading on my door and it took more time to take that off so I can drill the rivets than replacing the motor itself. I say about 30 min, if that, to change and replace a motor

I replaced mine with one from Advance Auto Parts for $50 and it had a lifetime warranty. It's a good thing cause I've put 3 different motors in it. Next time I'm gonna get the OEM and see if I have better luck with it.
