Possible?

I was considering upgrading my stereo system, but really do not want to go through all the costs and hassles. . .plus, the monsoon system is pretty good. However, I want a CD changer that I can operate through the radio controls. . .unfortunately, I have a 1998 with a CD deck, so I understand that I cannot run a factory changer through the head unit. Therefore, I want to get a CD head unit out of a 1999, and a factory CD changer.

Is this possible, and does it make sense? Or will the cost of the parts actually be a ****load more than getting an aftermarket system?

Thanks!

Ed

BTW. . .if anyone has these parts and wants to sell, let me know!

Oh you poor misguided fool. Do you and your ears a favor and get after-market gear. It will blow away the POS Monsoon and won't be blowing speakers left and right like everyone else with a POS Monsoon system. Not to mention the POS Monsoon HU crapping out after only a couple of years.

BTW, getting a CD player out of a '99 is no guarantee that it will have changer controls. It was midway thru the '99 model year that the CD HU's started having changer controls. To be on the safe side make sure it's from at least a '00 F-body if you insist on keeping the POS Monsoon system.
