Poor mans car stero installed! Not to bad!

Please note I have not cleaned up the wiring yet, its just in there and plugged into the car's normal electrical for testing purposes.

I made it out of 3/8 plywood, and black vinal that is a perfect match to my car's interror. The back flap takes place of the cars stock one and velcrows in. It looks really good for a custom set up.

Its three jensen 1010's (525 watts) with a 250 watt jensen amp and a 500 watt jensen amp. I know jensen is crap but I really don't want to kill anyone just add a little bass thats all.

It cost me about $125 for it all and a few trades, it does what I want, so I am happy with it.

Please if you want to leave a pi$$a$$ comment go somewhere else cause I am happy with it.

so is that just like a single board which you have the speakers screwed down to or is there some sort of enclosure behind them that we're not able to see in the picture?

Are those free-air subs or did you build a box behind the flap? On another note, nice idea, i give you props for doing it yourself. I understand the money situation, i'm in college which equals no money. I built my sub box myself, might not be the best but it gets the job done for now. Good luck with it

I would suggest making an infinite baffle with what you have. Simply lie that board down into the trunk area. I guarantee you will get better bass out of it.

My subs are a little ghetto right now too, so props to the ghetto setup

I just took a look at the Jensen homepage, and found the manual. I suggest you read it (if you don't have it in hardcopy, look here: http://webmisc.recoton.com/manuals/J...0Operation.pdf )

So it seems that for you to get the best usage out of your system, you need to build a sealed box with an internal volume of .75 cubic feet per sub. If you're building your own enclosure, I advise you to follow the instructions in that manual. It includes all the little tricks to creating an efficient box. If you don't mind using a lot of room in your trunk, you could go with a ported box (better SPL = killing old grandma's). For that though, you would need 1.25 cubic feet per sub, creating a total internal volume of 3.75 cubic feet. That would pretty much use up your entire trunk.

So I suggest your first step would be to read the manual, take the plans they include there, and modify as you need to.

If you go ported, or even bandpass, you may not even need that third sub. Just something to think about

When I didn't know jack about systems I ran two 12"'s on a board in the hatch. I ended up blowing the subs and getting them replaced under warranty. Then I spent $35 at local wood store and built my own box. Holy **** - the difference was incredible - nothing in comparison. My suggestion would be to spend the $35 and build yourself a ghetto box - I think you will be very very pleased.
