Please help...very "green" at car audio...
I have no idea where to start. I have a 1994 Trans Am that came with the factory cassette tape player. I want to do some subtle upgrades to the stereo system, but would rather spend my money on other mods.
What are some good cheaper brands that are still relatively reliable?
I was thinking about going with a Kenwood reciever. It is an in-dash single CD player and is 4-50watts. Is this okay?
What speakers do we have in our Fbodies?
What speakers do we have throughout the car? I will not be able to use the factory 6X8 (i think) rear speakers. My roll cage will go through those grills.
Here is what I was thinking: If I am way off, please help me as I don't know chit about this.
Kenwood Headunit
Polk components
Polk speakers on the doors by the components (maybe 4 1/2???)
Polk rear speakers (by the rear seats) I think a 6 or 6 1/4
JL steathbox and JL 10-W6 in the far back
Maybe a alpine amp??? really don't know what amp to go with.

ok.... where to start.....
You said you will be unable to use the factory rear speakers. Are you talking about the FAR rear speakers under the hatch? If so, good. They're in a horrible position anyway. All of the brands you mentioned are ok. If you can get them at a cheap price, then go for it. Your front speakers and speakers in the sail panels (rear seats) are both 6 3/4" speakers. I recommend a nice component set for up front and a simple midrange in the rear. Add that to you stealth box and power it nicely.... you'll be happy.
How much are you getting the JL stealth for? You can get a high quality stealth fromsubthump for $112. Also, the JL W6 has dual 6 ohm voice coils. They are meant to be run in trios. With only one of them, you can only wire down to a 3 ohm impedence. I recommend an Elemental Designs k-series, Alpine Type-S or the Type-R. For an amp..... well alpine is a great brand, but not cheap. How much you looking to spend?
